Participants will also receive Kathleen’s comprehensive workshop handbook— a resource she personally wrote to support painters at every stage. This invaluable guide is included in the workshop fee and will help you prepare, practice, and continue developing your skills long after the workshop ends.

Kathleen B. Hudson is a highly acclaimed plein air painter whose work has earned top honors at many of the nation’s most respected juried exhibitions and invitational events. Her awards include Best of Show at the Paint Maui Plein Air Invitational (2025), Grand Prizes at the 6th Annual PleinAir Salon (2017) and Plein Air Texas (2018, Elta Joyce Murphey Award), and Artists’ Choice awards at the Laguna Plein Air Painters’ Invitational (2020, 2021). She has also received Best in Show at the Timeless Legacy Exhibition at the Hockaday Museum (2020), along with major recognitions such as Editor’s Choice from the Catalina Island Conservancy Wild Side Show (2024) and Best Seascape at the California Art Club Gold Medal Show (2020). In addition to her exhibition success, Kathleen is a sought-after educator, serving as faculty for the PleinAir Convention & Expo and Plein Air South, and is widely respected for her excellence in marine and landscape painting, with multiple Best Marine, Waterscape, and conservation awards to her name.
